The short answer
Start with the battery system and then decide whether packs may wait their turn. The 48-59-2401 is a dedicated M12 charger [1]. The 48-59-1812 is the standard M18 and M12 multi-voltage model [2], while the 48-59-1808 covers the same two systems with Milwaukee's rapid-charging claim [3]. The 48-59-1815 is different: it is an M18-only Super Charger that can charge two M18 packs simultaneously [4].
Four model numbers, three workflow choices

A charger with two differently shaped positions is not necessarily a two-pack simultaneous charger. Milwaukee describes both 48-59-1812 and 48-59-1808 as sequential: after one inserted battery finishes, the second begins [2] [3]. That can cover a mixed M12/M18 collection, but it does not make both batteries ready at the same time.
Read speed claims with their conditions
Milwaukee says 48-59-1808 charges packs up to 40% faster than its standard charger; “up to” is a comparison claim, not one universal time for every battery [3]. The 48-59-1815 page gives more specific examples: FORGE XC6.0 reaches 80% in 15 minutes, while FORGE XC8.0 and HD12.0 reach 80% in 35 minutes [4]. Those figures name both the battery family and an 80% endpoint, so they should not be presented as empty-to-full times for other M18 packs.
Choose from the batteries and queue you actually own
- Use 48-59-2401 when the requirement is simply one M12 charging position.
- Use 48-59-1812 when one charger must accept M12 and M18 and sequential operation fits the workflow.
- Consider 48-59-1808 for the same two systems when its pack-specific rapid-charging improvement is useful.
- Consider 48-59-1815 when two M18 batteries must charge together and M12 support is not required.
Before purchasing or traveling, verify the complete battery catalog number, the charger's US-market input specification, ventilation requirements and the indicator meanings in its instructions. Similar Milwaukee housings do not establish battery compatibility, and temperature or battery condition can delay charging.
